Susan DiMarco is an active volunteer in civics and arts-related activities in New York and New Jersey. She recently served on the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts for the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., having been appointed to that position by President Obama in 2012. DiMarco, a retired dentist, currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Occidental and was most recently invited onto the board of the Women’s Leadership Council at Lincoln Center in New York. DiMarco has served on the board of directors for the Montclair Art Museum, the Mental Health Association of Essex County and the Montclair Development Corporation. She was vice chair of the corporate board of the Covenant House, an international, privately funded childcare agency. She assisted Covenant House New Jersey in opening Nancy’s Place, a residence for mentally ill homeless youth in New Jersey. In 2020, by request of the secretary of the Navy, DiMarco will christen one of the Navy’s newest submarines.
DiMarco received her degree in dentistry from Georgetown University and completed a postgraduate residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Care Center in New York City.
