Oxy and the Public Good

Public service is an Occidental tradition, embodied in its mission of excellence, equity, community and service. That tradition is is fully integrated into the Oxy experience, both inside and outside the classroom, through partnerships fostered by the Office of Community Engagement and the Center for Community Based Learning and programs such as Upward Bound, Campaign Semester and the Kahane United Nations Program. Generations of Oxy alumni have successfully promoted the public good in a wide range of fields and roles – from elected office, education and international diplomacy to the law, policy advocacy and the arts.
