Nina J. Gutin, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist based in Pasadena, California. She specializes and conducts trainings in suicide assessment, intervention, and postvention. Gutin serves on the Advisory Board of the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center, where she also facilitates “Survivors After Suicide” support groups.
In addition, she is an active member of the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Network. Dr. Gutin serves on the Board of the Austen Riggs Center, an open residential treatment facility in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. She is also Co-Chair of the Coalition of Clinician-Survivors, a group dedicated to supporting clinicians who have experienced suicide loss, either personally or professionally. Her work has been published in several articles focused on suicide loss and postvention.
Since losing her brother to suicide in 1995, Dr. Gutin has been deeply involved in efforts to promote more comprehensive, compassionate responses to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. She is also engaged with several organizations which aim to challenge the ways in which suicidal experiences are conventionally understood and treated.
