Steve Olson is a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of O’Melveny & Myers, where he serves as chairman of its white-collar defense and corporate investigations practice. A former federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, Olson rejoined the firm in July 2013 after serving as deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to the U.S. Commerce Secretary. In that role, he addressed many of the country’s important business issues, including protection of trade secrets, U.S. manufacturing policy and management of the Gulf Coast restoration fund created from the settlement of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill litigation. Olson also served as executive director of SelectUSA, President Barack Obama’s initiative to attract increased investment in the United States by international businesses.

With the director of the White House National Economic Council, Olson co-chaired the Interagency Investment Working Group, charged with coordinating  federal investment policy initiatives and attraction efforts. Olson earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Stanford University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan.
